"After its debut in Miami this past December, the L’Objet x Haas Brothers collection has been at the top of every design-lover’s list. Here’s why: After over a decade of minimalism and safe, investment dinnerware, it is high time for an ode to joyful exuberance. “I believe in disruption, we don’t need to do the same thing over and over again,” says Elad Yifrach, founder and creative director of L’Objet. “Keep the tradition, but break the mold. We already knew what it took to make a beautiful, functional plate, then the Haas Brothers brought in this fantasy and the results are amazing.” Inspired by Joshua Tree, the collection is a fanciful reverie about creatures that might come out at night, reminiscent of Where the Wilds Things Are. The colorful, anthropomorphic characters in the collection are equal parts Haas Brothers' creativity and L’Objet elegance.
The L'Obet Haas Brothers collaboration includes everything from embroidered table runners and incense burners to a full dinnerware service, all of it with personality. Part of the collection's appeal is due to the artisans Yifrach works with in Portugal, who help bring each piece to life. “We wanted the pieces to be fully three-dimensional, to look interesting at every angle, even the little salt and pepper shakers look great from the back and sides,” Yifrach explains.
The entire line launched March 7, with a celebration cocktail at Bergdorf Goodman, co-hosted by T&C’s editor-in-chief Stellene Volandes. Following the cocktail, a dinner by LTD by Lizzie Tisch at her home brought together guests including Barbara Bush, Lucy Liu, and Robert Verdi. The table, designed by David Monn, was a talking point unto itself, spurring great conversation late into the night. “With ritual objects like dinnerware there is an intrinsic intimacy which we loved building on,” the Haas brothers said. “We hope it encourages faster and deeper human connections, adds to memories, and heightens social experiences.”
The collection is available at Bergdorf Goodman and L’Objet. It is also featured in the April Issue of Town & Country, out this month."
